Castell Deudraeth, Portmeirion, Wales

It is an early Victorian castellated mansion built by David Williams, the first Liberal MP for Merioneth. The architect Coulgh Williams-Ellis bought the building in order to expand the Portmeirion estate and to give him a proper driveway from the main road. The castle is actually the modern little sister to the classical Hotel Portmeirion, both part of his romantic vision to transform the North Walian village into Little Italy. Dalhousie Castle Hotel – Bonnyrigg, Scotland
